Hijinks!

Hijinks
Acrylic, 24" x 36" on gallery wrapped canvas (1.5 " deep)

The crows around here a funny, clever, comical and very entertaining. I've seen them on rooftops carrying a snake dinner, dive-bombing neighborhood cats, harassing eagles and hawks, picking through the brush for just the right nest building materials, and nagging us for bread scraps.
They are always up to something.

Recycled ART

The RE Store has partnered with Allied Arts of Whatcom County to present the 9th Annual ReArt Show. "Recycled Art is made from anything that is fished out of the waste stream. The waste stream flows deep and wide from each American home and workplace, so materials are abundant. Recycled Art can be inspiring, poignant, useful, beautiful, impractical, wearable, hideous, humorous, or just downright trashy." ~www.re-store.org
Galleries in Seattle and Bellingham will be showing ReArt throughout the month of April. Later in April the Trash Fashion Shows will be held. For more information on the Allied Arts Gallery of Bellingham, visit www.alliedarts.org
Red Rocks is the title of the piece I have on exhibit. It's probably 99% recycled, reused and repurposed materials.

Art for Sorticulture

The City of Everett, Washington chose my art for their poster and marketing materials for the 13th annual Sorticulture: Garden Arts Festival!
http://www.everettwa.org/default.aspx?ID=1228
The piece they chose is Hippy Dippy Eco Peace Garden. Kevin and I were doing the dance of joy. Rusty (the dog) joined in for all the hopping up and down, laughing part. This is so great!

New Art for a New Jeannie

I had been struggling with ideas and inspiration when it occurred to me—I am thinking too much. What do I want to paint? How do I want to convey a message? How can I use all the tools and supplies at my disposal? Who am I anyway???

It became very clear that I don't want to paint to fit in or to have people like my art (or like me) or even to paint to be juried into a particular show. I need to paint for Me. That's the impetus. That's what adds energy and excitement to my art—the passion and spirit I have for it.

So. Here are the pieces I have entered into a show called UnClad, The Fine Art of the Figure.
It's all about the human figure in art. Mostly nude. I have taken some paintings that include the figure and "jeannied" them up a bit. My artwork is about the senses: textures, patterns, lively composition and vivid colors.

I am very excited about these three new paintings. Happy New Art! If I jury into UnClad, Yippee! I would be thrilled. Otherwise, I am proud to have 'stuck to my guns' and remained true to my vision. That's a big deal.
